WestConn Offers

Spring Vacation Alternative

DANBURY — If you are wondering how to keep your child safe and busy during the upcoming school vacation, Western Connecticut State University has the answer for you.

WestConn’s Kid’s Week Off program, sponsored by the university Athletics Department, offers a smart alternative for parents who have to work while their children are on vacation from school. The program will be open from 9 am to 3 pm from Monday, April 16, to Friday, April 20, at the O’Neill Center on WestConn’s Westside campus on Mill Plan Road in Danbury.

“The program is open to kids ages 5 to 12, and it will offer a chance for them to be active and have safe fun during their break,” said Jill Cook, WestConn’s women’s swimming coach and one of the coordinators of the program. “The program is designed to give children an overview of many sports-related activities including basketball, soccer, swimming, volleyball, floor hockey, and more.”

The program will emphasize participation rather than development of specific skills. The children will be guided daily by coaches and student athletes from seven of WestConn’s sports teams. Supervision is based on a maximum ratio of 10 children to one adult. However, younger children will receive even more supervision.

The cost is $100 for a full week, with $75 for each additional sibling, or $25 for a single day, with a cost of $20 a day for each additional sibling.

Please call Ms Cook at 203-837-8624 for more information and registration forms.
