Blue & Gold Golf Tourney
The annual Newtown Blue and Gold Booster Club golf tournament will be held Monday, May 7, starting at 9 am, at the Newtown Country Club. The tournament is a fundraising event to support all the athletic programs at Newtown High School. Over the past five years, the tournament has raised more than $22,000 for student-athletes. The $125 fee ($30 to attend the dinner only) includes 18 holes of golf (with cart), buffet dinner, and prizes (including a $10,000 award for anyone who makes a hole-in-one on a designated hole). The B&G Club is also seeking sponsorships - $100 for a tee or $25 for a golf cart. Contact Mike Kelley at 426-9624 or Ann Deweese at 270-0189 for further information.
Blue & Gold Meeting
The Newtown Blue & Gold Booster Club will meet on Wednesday, April 25, at 7:30 pm, in the high school school office to finalize plans for the golf tournament. All members are encouraged to attend.

MLS Soccer Camp
The Newtown Soccer Club will once again host the MLS Soccer Camp, which will run from July 30 through August 3, and is open for players ages 5 to 12. Cost is $84 and that includes shirt and soccer ball. Brochures will be available from soccer coaches and at the Booth Library (outside lobby of childrenâs room, on bench). WAYS Soccer Mini-Camp
The Watertown Association for Youth Soccer, in association with Winning Mood Soccer, will present a spring break soccer mini-camp for boys and girls ages 7 to 14 at Veterans Park on Nova Scotia Hill Road in Watertown. The camp will run from Tuesday, April 17 through Thursday, April 19, from 9 to 11:30 am. Fee is $25. Forms are available at the Watertown Parks and Recreation Department in the Depot Square Mall.
Youth Football Clinic
A youth football clinic, led by Masuk High School coach John Murphy, will be held July 23-27 at Masuk High School in Monroe. Session will run from 9 to 12 noon (11:30 to 12 noon will be in the pool). The camp is open to players ages 8 to 15 (Masuk students are not eligible). Players will be grouped according to age, size and experience. Registration fee is $85 (due no later than May 31). Ted Alex Golf Tournament
The 17th annual Ted Alex Memorial Golf Tournament, held annually to honor the memory of educator and coach Ted Alex, who died of cancer in 1984, will be held on Saturday, June 16, at the Fair View Frams Golf Course in Harwinton. Summer Hoop Leagues
Triple Double Enterprises, Inc., is now taking signups for its 30-and-over and 40-and-over summer basketball leagues, held Mondays (30-and-over) and Wednesdays (40-and-over) at the Police Acitivites League facility in Danbury. Girls Lacrosse Coaches

Housy Golf Tournament
The Housatonic Valley Association Golf Tournament, presented by MacDermid to benefit the clean water and land protection, will be held on Monday, June 11, at the Country Club of Waterbury. A best One-of-Four format, the tournament offers individual and team prizes. Cost is $175 and that includes lunch, dinner, greens fees, and prizes. Lunch is at 11:45 am and dinner is at 6:30 pm. Batterâs Box
Hitting classes will be held Fridays through April 20 at the Batterâs Box. Players 10 and under will meet from 7 to 8 pm while players 13 and over will meet from 8 to 9 pm (cost is $80). Call 1-203-248-2398 to register.
Batting Cage
The Batting Cage is swinging into the off-season with a winter training program for high school baseball teams and individual players only. Teams and players can sign up for 12 weeks of training, two hours a week, at The Batting Cage, across from the Fairfield Cinemas in Fairfield. Cost is $199. Call 1-203-259-BALL to reserve a spot.
