A Pledge To Serve

An open letter to the people of Newtown:

I have had the honor and privilege to serve as your first selectman for the past four years, and I thank the voters of Newtown for allowing me to continue in that capacity.

Special thanks to my wife, family, staff, and the many people who participated in my campaign with their time, efforts, and money. Without their support, victory would not have been possible.

Congratulations to all of the people who were successful in yesterday’s election. I am particularly pleased that I will be serving with Joe Bojnowski and Bill Brimmer for the next two years; we have had a great working relationship and I look forward to meeting the challenges that lie ahead with their help. I also want to express my appreciation to the candidates who offered their services to the voters but were not successful, particularly to my son Daniel. We are very fortunate to have so many fine people in both political parties who are willing to serve.

Again, to those who voted for me, I thank you for the confidence you have shown in me and to those who did not, thank you for participating in the process. I pledge to serve all the people of Newtown to the best of my ability.
