37th Annual Monroe Strawberry Festival
37th Annual Monroe
Strawberry Festival
MONROE â Monroeâs welcome to summer will return on Saturday, June 14, from 10 am to 5 pm, and again on Sunday, June 15, from 11 am to 5 pm, to Monroe Green, Route 111.
The 37th anniversary Strawberry Festival will once again be an old fashioned church festival that has something for everyone. Following tradition, freshly picked strawberries will be served in strawberry shortcake, whole berry pies, smoothies and chocolate dipped creations. In past years over two tons of berries have been used, with nearly 1,800 pounds of the strawberries hand picked locally at Jones Family Farm in Shelton.
There will also be strawberry jams, jellies, and breads, and special strawberry souvenir items.
The church will also be serving hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch. There will be inexpensive games for children and live entertainment too.
Over 100 juried crafters and fine artists from the East Coast will be selling handmade items and paintings. Shop for flowers, clothing, fine art, jewelry, furniture, glass, pottery, crafts of wood and metal and more.Â
There is no admission fee and parking is also free. Call the church at 268-9327 weekdays for further information or festival co-chairperson Julie Heussner at 203-913-9326.
