Coping With Side Effects Of Prostate Cancer Treatment
DANBURY â Men living with prostate cancer have many concerns related to prostate cancer treatment. Learn about coping strategies for managing the side effects of prostate cancer treatment at the Danbury Hospital Medical Town Meeting âGet The Facts On Life After Prostate Cancerâ on Tuesday, September 21, at 7 pm.
The Medical Town Meeting takes place in the John C. Creasy Center for Health Education auditorium and the featured speaker is Jeffrey Gorelick, MD, Department of Surgery, Section of Urology, who is also a practicing physician with Urology Associates of Danbury, PC. Patrice Hough, a registered nurse and manager of the Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital, will facilitate the evening program. Participants will receive educational materials pertaining to the program and answers to questions regarding prostate cancer treatment.
A prostate cancer screening will be conducted on Wednesday and Thursday, September 22â23, from 6 to 8 pm. The screening, which includes a risk assessment, physician exam, and low-cost PSA blood test, takes place in the Praxair Cancer Center located on the first floor of the Stroock Building. Free parking is located in the red parking garage, Locust Avenue entrance. Specific criteria apply in order to participate.
Ideal candidates are men between 50 and 75 who have not been screened, men 45 years and older with a family history, and African American men beginning at age 45. Exclusions to the screening are men with a history of prostate cancer, or men being following by a urologist. Call 797-7898 for more information.
