The 90-voice Danbury Concert Chorus and the 50-piece Danbury Symphony Orchestra, all under the direction of music director and conductor Richard Price, will perform this favorite of all requiems on Saturday, May 7, at 8 pm, at Ives Concert Hall, on the midtown campus of Western Connecticut State University.

Completed in 1868, shortly after the death of Brahms’ mother, the Requiem draws upon scripture from the Old and New Testaments and from the Apocrypha. The chorus will sing in the original German. An English translation will be included in the program.

Joining the chorus and orchestra are soprano Ellen Taylor Sisson, who was a recent soloist with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and baritone Thomas Meglioranza, who was the winner of the 2003 Franz Schubert competition.

For information, call Danbury Music Centre at 748-1716.
