Recreational Hockey Registrations

Danbury Ice Arena recreational youth hockey registrations are now being accepted for the upcoming season. Initiation Program for new hockey players ages 4-13 begins September 17.  Mite Cross-Ice for children 5-8 yrs old begins October 1. Teams from Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, New Milford, Newtown and New Fairfield will be formed. The Housatonic Valley In-House League begins October 12. Youth Hockey Registrations

The Western Connecticut Youth Hockey Association/Jr. Colonials will be accepting registrations for the 2005-2006 season for Mites through Bantams (boys and girls ages 7-14). In person registration will be held at the Danbury Ice Arena on Saturday, September 10 from 11 am to 5 pm. Try-outs begin September 13. Call 748-4914 or visit on the web at www.jrcolonialhockey.net.

Special Olympics Golf Classic

Area golfers are invited to sign up for the Special Olympics’ annual Golf Classic on Monday, September 26, at the Yale Golf Course. Funds raised will support year-round training and athletic competition in Olympic-style sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout Fairfield and New Haven counties. Fees for foursomes will be $1,000; however, individuals without a foursome will be paired with other participants at a fee of $250 each. Sponsorships are available at various levels, including Eagle at $5,000, Birdie at $2,500, Par at $1,000 and Tee at $125. Fees will include a continental breakfast, golf cart, greens fees, on-course lunch, beverages, awards reception, gift bag and prizes.  Registration and breakfast will begin at 7:30 am., with shotgun start at 9 am.
