Tag-A-Gift Helps Bring

Holiday Cheer To Children

The Newtown Junior Women’s Club is once again sponsoring its annual “Tag-A-Gift” program in conjunction with The Newtown Fund’s Holiday Basket program. Every year the community is given the opportunity to buy gifts anonymously for the less fortunate children in town.

Each tag will have a child’s age, sex, and family number. Individuals, families, or companies may choose as many tags as they like and purchase gifts for each of those children.

The ornaments with tags and instructions have been be conveniently hung on Christmas trees or wreaths at the following locations: Newtown Savings Bank at Sand Hill Plaza, Fleet Bank on Queen Street, Union Savings Bank on Commerce Road, and the Wesley Learning Center at the United Methodist Church in Sandy Hook..

Gifts, unwrapped, should be returned to these locations by Monday, December 15. The Juniors will wrap them in a session at The Meeting House on December 17.

“We ask that you leave your purchased gifts unwrapped at any one of these locations in the specially marked boxes provided. Be sure to tape the original tag to the gift. The ornament is your gift to keep,” said club President Susan Rahmlow.

“So far we have a list of 63 children to purchase gifts for,” she said. “We are always thankful for the support of the community in fulfilling the wishes of these children.”

Theresa Eames, second vice president, said the ages of the children range from newborn to 12. Anyone who wants to donate money, wrapping paper, or other items should contact Ms Eames at 364-1521.

Donations in the form of checks made out to the Newtown Junior Women’s Club may be sent to the club at PO Box 217, Botsford CT 06404.
