DSABC Is Harvesting The Hopes And Dreams Of Scholars

DSABC, Danbury Schools and Business Collaborative, established in 1990, is a collaborative venture between the Danbury public school system and businesses and corporations in the Danbury region. The premier initiative of DSABC is its nationally recognized mentor program, which supports approximately 500 students, from kindergarten through high school, through the dedication of trained mentors. DSABC has established a scholarship fund to further support all high school graduates who have participated for four or more years, and have a mentor at the time of their graduation.

The Harvesting Hopes and Dreams Dinner and Auction, which will be held on October 1, is the largest fundraising effort for the Scholarship Fund. The first annual event will feature dinner, a live and silent auction, as well as a raffle. The outstanding array of prizes include: a week at Martha’s Vineyard, a Champagne Cruise on Long Island, box seats for a Yankee game, jewelry, digital cameras, gift certificates, and much more. The success of this first annual event will ensure that the Scholarship Fund can aid all qualified students in their dreams of continuing their education.  The mentorship program is already nurturing a commitment to education, in addition to increasing student self esteem and providing mentees with a positive outlook for their futures.

Alan, a mentee, said of his mentor, “He was someone to talk to, and someone who listened to me. He taught me many things and gave direction to my life.” Harvesting Hopes and Dreams promises to provide the means to allow Alan’s direction to become a path to a brighter future.
