Free Golf Seminar

PGA Professional Frank A. Sergiovanni, of Newtown, will hold a free golf seminar at the Newtown Youth Academy on Sunday, February 15 from 12:30 to 2 pm.

Sergiovanni, a 25-year golf instructor, will demonstrate the many flaws in the conventional model of the golf swing.  Sign up in advance at golfdirector@ridgefieldct.org. Clubs are not necessary.

Basketball Clinic 

Future Stars Basketball Academy and the Newtown Youth Academy are accepting enrollment for a winter vacation clinic. The clinic is for boys and girls in grades 3-8 and will be held Friday, February 20 from 2 to 5 pm. The clinic includes shooting, ball handling, one-on-one drills and tournaments. Cost is $39. Former Seattle Super Sonics player Frank Oleynick runs the program. Sign up by Sunday, February 15. To register, call Frank at 367-1673 or email frankoleynick@hotmail.com.

Soccer Referee Clinic

Newtown Soccer Club will host an Entry Level Referee Grade 8 Clinic for certification beginning February 25. All details and registration information may be found at ctreferee.org. Softball Registration

Newtown Babe Ruth Softball registration (girls ages 6 and older) is available online at  newtownsoftball.org. The cost for the spring season is $120. In preparation for the season, the organization is offering several training opportunities including semi-private pitching lessons, general skills clinics at Frozen Ropes and a skills development clinic targeted for girls 10 and under at Middle Gate School.  Newtown Softball is planning to hold an umpiring clinic for high school-age girls and boys to get certified.
