Debit Card

Police are investigating a case involving the unauthorized use of a debit card owned by a Little Brook Lane resident in which a series of transactions occurred between December 8 and December 28.

The unauthorized fund withdrawals through the illicit use of the debit card amount to a case of third-degree larceny, which is a felony representing the theft of between $1,000 and $5,000, according to police.

Police learned of the situation on December 29. Police ask anyone with knowledge of the crime to contact Officer John McCluskey, who is investigating.

DUI Warrant

Police report that after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, James Archer 53, of 60 Flat Swamp Road came to the police station on the evening of January 4 and was charged with driving under the influence and with reckless driving in connection with an October 25 motor vehicle accident.

In that incident, Archer was driving a 2007 Honda Civic southward near 11 Flat Swamp Road at about 4:44 pm on October 25, when while negotiating a curve in the road to the left, he lost control of the auto and drove off the right road shoulder, striking two trees, according to police.

Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members transported Archer to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries after the October 25 collision, police said.

Police released Archer on $100 bail for a January 19 court appearance.
