NMS PTA Reflections Program Winners Announced
The Newtown Middle School PTA recently announced the first place winners in its Reflections Program at the school. The Reflections Program is a cultural arts program sponsored by the NMS PTA that encourages students to pursue artistic expression by creating works of art for fun and recognition. The works of art were based on a different theme each year. This yearâs theme âTogether We Canâ was judged in five categories: literature, visual art, video production, musical composition, and photography.
First place winning entries â Hannah Booth, visual arts; Max Galassi, video/film production; Mairin Hayes, literature; Kyle Watkins, photography; and Aimee Talbot, musical composition â will go on to be judged at the Connecticut State PTA level.
The middle school had 49 entries this year. The entries were judged by Newtown High School art teacher Carol Pelligra, co-president of the Flagpole Photography Club Ann Eigen, retired music teacher Martha Millett, Roger Williamson, an independent producer, and retired Reed Intermediate School teacher Arline Lathrop.
