Occupation: I do so many things! I write, and I’m working on some workbooks about questions about life purpose, relationships, and that whole bewilderment you sometimes get into. They are full of questions that help you find what makes you tick, and how it ties into the big picture. And I lead a Journey Within group. We share where we’re at, where we are stuck. I do intuitive insight, too. I make a connection through spirit that helps “unstick” people so that they can see the information about themselves that they already might know, but not recognize. We have the answers from God, but we don’t surrender to it. I sometimes say I’m a sacred activist or spiritual guide to give people help and give support where it is needed. I also do investing in real estate and stock. I’m very much about people, mankind, and getting involved.

Family: My family is so tiny. I have a brother who is an abstract artist, Steve, whom I adore. It’s really just the two of us. He lives in Chelsea, and has a weekend home in Kent. I consider my friends an extension of family. I’ve been blessed to have good friends around me.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I lived here years ago, and then came back about ten years ago. I was in Danbury in between.

What do you like to do in your free time? I love hiking, power walking, and horseback riding. I just tried cross-country skiing for the first time and loved it. I do a lot of gardening. I like to grow my own vegetables. I just love the outdoors. And I’m an avid reader. But, I also love just doing nothing sometimes.

Do you have a favorite book? Mostly I read inspirational books. I like true-life stories. Right now, I’m studying the Bible. I wanted to understand it. I like books on real people. I like to see where people’s journeys have been and what they’ve experienced. I do like to read books on gardening, too.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I love to travel with a sense of purpose. I like to stay with people in a country and have them show me their country. I like going somewhere where I can help in some way, and have a good time. I went to Russia seven or eight years ago and worked in an orphanage. It was wonderful. I lived in a dorm and it was a gift. I got to experience the country from a native point of view. I like going to warm climates, too, and locally, I do love the Cape.

What is the best thing about Newtown? Probably the Edmond Town Hall Theatre, and going to a movie there for just $2. It’s a very pretty town. Main Street is charming, and it is a very safe and secure feeling community. I like the accessibility of the town to major cities. I have good friends that I love here in Newtown.

What changes have you seen in town? There is much more commercial development and more shopping places, which is both good and bad. The acquisition of Fairfield Hills has not been as business friendly as I had hoped. I had hoped there would be more space available for nonprofits. I’m part of the small nonprofit group, Trinity Productions, and we tried to bring community gardening to Fairfield Hills, and were turned down. I try to stay positive, but I sometimes feel the town is not so open to these groups. The taxes, too, have gotten to be very expensive.

Who do you most admire? I admire many different people. One whom I really admired was Gandhi, being so simple and such a peaceful man. I liked what he said: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Locally, I admire George Miller, on Main Street — no relation! He is just so happy to wake up and be in each day. But I feel like everyone has something great to offer.

Do you have a personal philosophy? To feel your heart and honor your truth. I’m very God-based. There’s more to life than meets the eye. We’re here for such a short time, so it’s important to seek truth. Make the most of each day and each moment, and be content with who you are.

What makes you happiest? Knowing that I’m going to be fine, no matter what. I’m appreciative of people, but I’m not completely dependent on others to be happy. It’s the little things in life that make me happiest. Trying new things makes me happy, too.
