Join The Firehouse Ride And Pig Roast

By Kendra Bobowick

Enjoy a motorcycle ride, barbecue lunch, and live music on Sunday, September 23, at the 2012 Firehouse Ride to benefit Newtown Hook & Ladder Company No. 1.

Registration opens at 9 am at The One-Eyed Pig bar and restaurant at 71 South Main Street at Ricky’s Shopping Plaza. The ride, which winds through Brookfield, Bridgewater, and Newtown, kicks off at 11. Registration is $30 per bike and passengers and general admission is $15. The day will include raffle prizes, entertainment, refreshments, and lunch. Crystal Pyramid will perform that afternoon.

Whether joining the ride that makes a 40-mile circuit through area towns, or just enjoying the pig roast party and live entertainment, guests can lend their support to Newtown Hook & Ladder Fire Company’s fundraising efforts to build a new firehouse. Their current location is at 45 Main Street, behind the Edmond Town Hall.

Last year’s ride raised about $10,000.

“We want to try to exceed that this year,” said Hook & Ladder Chief Engineer Rob Manna, who also serves as the company’s fire commissioner.

Ride Chairman Tim Hoeffel hopes to bring a crowd to the fundraiser, which he hope will continue to maintain awareness for the firehouse.
