Synthetic Marijuana Seized At Cigar Store
Police report that during the past few weeks, town police and members of the state policeâs Statewide Narcotics Task Force conducted a joint investigation to find any stores in Newtown that were selling the newly illegal synthetic marijuana, which is variously known as K-2 or K-3 or spice.
During that probe, police went to all local stores that had been previously selling the now-illegal substance and attempted to buy some, police said in a statement.
On October 10, Brand Cigars, located in Plaza South at 266 South Main Street (Route 25), was found to have the substance for sale, police said.
Police said that investigators interviewed an employee there and seized the synthetic marijuana.
No arrests were made and the criminal investigation remains open, police said.
The matter is being referred to the state Department of Consumer Protection and state Department of Revenue Services for any possible license violations, police said.
