Curtiss House Candlelight Tours, October 25
Newtown Historical Society will host Candlelight Tours of its headquarters, on Saturday, October 25.
The Matthew Curtiss House, at 44 Main Street, will be open for visits that evening between 5 and 8 pm.
The Matthew Curtiss House is a fine example of Connecticut saltbox architecture. Constructed circa 1750 and purchased by Matthew Curtiss Jr. in 1781, the historical society purchased and restored it to its original condition in 1970. Docents will lead tours of the historic building by candlelight.
Reservations are not needed for this special event. (A second event also planned for October 25, a pair of Ghost Tours along Main Street, is already filled to capacity.)
