A Worthwhile Experience

Over the past couple of months, we attended the Citizen’s Police Academy and would like to take this opportunity to thank Officer Dom Costello, Chief Michael Kehoe, and the Newtown Police Department for the worthwhile experience.

The classes were very informative and gave us a closer look at the day-to-day responsibilities of our police force. The course began with a tour of the police department and the dispatch unit. Each week guest speakers as well as different officers spoke on subject matters such as crime prevention, firearms and tactics, domestic violence, driving under the influence, and a special demonstration by our Canine Unit — Baro and Officer Stinson.

The trip to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Meriden was one of the highlights. If this class is offered again in the future, we highly recommend that all Newtown residents consider participating. Again, we would like to thank all involved for the wonderful experience.
