Working Together For Blood Drive Made A Difference For Others
To the Editor:
On Thursday, May 10, the Newtown Lions Club sponsored another very successful Red Cross Blood Drive at the Newtown Congregational Church. On behalf of the Lions Club, I want to thank Shannon Hicks for taking and publishing a photo to promote our event in The Newtown Bee.
I also would like to thank the Newtown Woman's Club for helping at the registration table from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm, Women Involved in Newtown (WIN) for providing delicious homemade baked goods for our snack table, and Jeff Dymerski at Dunkin Donuts, Newtown for generously providing coffee and donuts.
Many thanks to the Newtown Congregational Church for hosting the blood drive and to the local churches for publicizing the event in their bulletins and social media. Many thanks to Amy Mangold at Newtown Parks and Rec and Sue Marcinek in the First Selectman's Office for also publicizing our blood drive.
Finally, I want to thank the Lions Club members who staffed our donor snack table during the ten hour blood drive, and the amazing Red Cross workers who also put in a very long day and collected 87 pints of blood!
We are so appreciative of all the people who worked as a team to produce a very successful event which will help many people and make a difference in their lives.
Sincerely,
Sue Corey
