‘Fry-days’ At St Rose

Members of the St Rose of Lima Knights of Columbus invite Newtown residents to the Second Annual Friday Night Fish Fry to be held Fridays, March 3, 10, and 24, at St Rose Parish Hall, 46 Church Hill Road. The events will run from 5 to 8 pm.

Fish Fry Night will not be held on March 17.

“We served 900 people last year,” said co-chairperson Jim Tevnan, “and this year we are aiming for 1,000.”

Boneless haddock filets are battered in Tully’s fish batter from the famous upstate New York chain of bars and restaurants, said Mr Tevnan.

“We were trained by Dave Giamartino of Tully’s last year,” he added. “Everyone loved it.”

Fresh coleslaw and crispy french fries are included in the $8 adult price and $4 children’s price for the dinner. Families who choose to dine at the parish hall pay a maximum of $25 per family.

Diners will enjoy the talents of local musicians each Friday night. Newtown guitarist Tom Novack is scheduled for March 3, said Grand Knight Len Moritz.

For those short on time, “We have take-out service, as well,” Mr Tevnan said. Call 512-1474 to place a take-out order.

Proceeds from the fish fry nights will be used to support various charities.
