Laura Hickey, daughter of Pat Hickey of Newtown and Lorraine Igoe of Brookfield, graduated last May from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. Miss Hickey graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and a minor in writing.

While at Canisius, she was a member of Psi Chi, the Psychology National Honors Society, Campus Mediation, and the Women’s Crew Team.

Miss Hickey departs January 24 to become a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia. She will work for two years as a health volunteer while in Africa. Miss Hickey is a 1996 graduate of Newtown High School.
