Father’s Day At Devil’s Den

WESTON — On Sunday, June 17, from 1 to 3 pm, The Nature Conservancy is offering a guided hike of three to four miles at its Devil’s Den Preserve to celebrate Father’s Day and the height of the laurel season.

The Connecticut State Flower should form a colorful, blossoming understory within The Den’s protected forest during the early afternoon event. The moderately strenuous hike will parallel Saugatuck River, cross to the middle of the den, and climb the trail to Deer Knoll Vista and a view over area ridgetops.

Hike leaders will be natural history guides Cia Marion, Betsy Neuburg, and Frank Conway. They will augment the hike with information about trees, wildflowers, and other natural features at the preserve.

Hikers are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and clothing and to bring water.

There is no charge for the program, but reservations are required. Interested participants should call The Den at 203-226-4991 weekends between 9 am and 5 pm for reservations, directions, or additional information.
