Flagpole Collision

Police report a two-car accident near the Main Street flagpole about 3 pm September 1.

Police said motorist Katherine Turcotte, 17, of Monroe, who was driving a 1990 Volvo 240 sedan, was westbound on Church Hill Road and planning to turn left around the flagpole and head southbound on Main Street.

At that time, motorist Erin Carolan, 17, of 22 Horseshoe Ridge Road, who was driving a 1997 Acura CL-2 coupe, was traveling northbound on Main Street, police said.

 The Volvo pulled into the intersection, resulting in a collision with the Acura, police said.

 There were no injuries. Police issued Turcotte a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
