Rotary Summer Exchange Program
Rotary Summer Exchange Program
The Rotary Club is accepting applications for a short-term exchange student program this summer. Students, matched with their foreign counterparts, will spend three to four week in each otherâs homes. The students and their families make most arrangements on scheduling. Newtown students can have the opportunity to travel to host families in areas including Europe, South America, and the Far East. Each family is expected to cover their childâs airfare and personal item expenditure.
This is a great opportunity to develop international understanding and goodwill at the personal level through the exchange of high school aged students. It is Rotaryâs hope that these young people will be able to observe the problems and accomplishments of other countries by living with and meeting people of cultures, creeds, and colors other than their own. Applicants between 15 and 19 years of age who have a desire to live abroad and host in return will be considered.
For more information, contact the Newtown High School guidance office or Rotarian Amar Amembal at 426-1788 at the Rotary Club for forms. Applications should be mailed to the Rotary Club of Newtown, PO Box 263, Newtown CT 06470. Deadline is May 28.
