Rosenthal Elected VP Of Municipalities Conference
The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM), Connecticutâs statewide association of towns and cities, elected its officers and Board of Directors for 2004-05 at CCMâs annual meeting on June 8. Five officers and five new directors were elected, and 18 directors were re-elected for another year.
Philip K. Schenck, Jr, town manager of Avon, was elected president for a full one-year term, and Newtown First Selectman Herb Rosenthal was named as first vice president of the association.
Last year, Mr Rosenthal was CCMâs treasurer. He also is vice chairman of the Board of Directors of CIRMA, CCMâs risk management and insurance services arm.
Mr Rosenthal is co-chairman of the Housatonic Valley Economic Development Partnership and past chairman of the Board of Directors of the Housatonic Valley Council of Elected Officials. Before being elected first selectman, Mr Rosenthal was a member of the Newtown Board of Education for 13 years, serving as chairman for three years. During that same time, he served on the Board of Directors of Education Connection, the regional education service center for 33 municipalities in northwestern Connecticut, serving as chairman for ten years.
Mr Rosenthal previously held management positions in the insurance and financial services field, and was a lieutenant in the United States Navy.
