An Outpouring Of Generosity

To the Editor:

With gratitude beyond words, our family was amazed at the outpouring of generosity at Dickinson Park on June 13 at the fundraiser picnic for our little boy, Daniel Hasselberger. Our friends and family cooked, ran events, sold tickets, and popped popcorn.

The weather was crystal clear and beautiful, and perfect for the demonstration by Newtown Hook and Ladder. A Moonbounce, a pony, and a DJ, all donated, all made the day spectacular for the kids. Food and drinks, also donated, and the expertise of a very special Robert Karnoff made the event a professional and well-run feast.

The Newtown and surrounding communities have been wonderful, and we want to say thank you. A letter will be send to all of the vendors and people who made the possible. So far almost $30,000 has been raised towards Daniel’s need for a special lift van and other medical expenses. Continued donations are welcome, and the Newtown Fund is still receiving funds: The Newtown Fund, PO Box 641, Newtown CT 06470. A very special thank you to Stockwell and Bates for running the Newtown Fund and helping us. We intend on thanking everyone individually as soon as we can. The Hasselberger family, Julie, John, Sarah Rose, Daniel, and Thomas. What an awesome town this is!
