Starting/Running A Restaurant

SHELTON — SCORE Greater Bridgeport will offer a no-fee workshop “Starting/Running a Restaurant Business” on Wednesday, February 9, at the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce office, 900 Bridgeport Avenue, Shelton, at 6:30 pm.

The panel of speakers, Joshua Grant, Eugene Kierce, and Hamid Malakpour, will discuss all aspects of starting, running, and financing a restaurant business. Following the presentations a question and answer session will expand on topics of interest to attendees.

Joshua Grant is the owner of Abi-Joy Novelty Foods, LLC, the largest novelty foods concessionaire in the northeast, with 65 employees. He also owns a cleaning business, with 20 employees, and last year opened a Bridgeport restaurant, Soul-2-Soul, specializing in Southern cuisine.

Eugene Kierce was the co-owner of a Stratford deli/restaurant that had seating for 40. He is a member of the Bridgeport SCORE consulting team.

Hamid Malakpour is vice president and district manager of People’s Bank. He will review the process by which the bank evaluates loan requests, the importance of a business plan, and the information and documentation the bank requires from persons applying for a loan.
