Using Space For Newtown
Using Space For Newtown
To the Editor:
I would like to commend Joseph E. Borst, member of the High School Space Needs Committee, for his recent proposal to address Newtownâs space needs:
1. Make all elementary schools pre-K through third grade,
2. House grades 4 and 5 at Reed School,
3. Move grades 6 through 8 to the High School,
4. Build a new high school for grades 9 through 12 at Fairfield
   Hills,
5. Renovate the middle school for town offices,
6. Use Edmond Town Hall as a social and cultural center.
Unfortunately, while Mr Borstâs plan is both creative and intelligent, it was doomed from the start because:
1. It is too logical,
2. It would probably be the least expensive plan for the taxpay
   ers,
3. It would require our town leaders to think beyond the end of
   this school year,
4. It would finally make some effective use of Fairfield Hills.
Nice try Mr Borst, but thinking and planning for the future is no way to get anything done in this town.
