Candlewood Region To Join March of Dimes WalkAmerica
DANBURY â March of Dimes has announced that the Candlewood Regional WalkAmerica, a fundraising event, will take place on Sunday, April 30, at the CityCenter Green to help the March of Dimes fight prematurity â a growing crisis that now affects half a million babies born in the United States every year.
The number of babies born prematurely each year has increased by 30 percent since 1983. In Connecticut, more than 80 babies a week are born too soon. Premature birth is the leading killer of newborns and a major cause of disabilities.
WalkAmerica Danbury will be a fun day for the whole family. Walkers can enjoy a variety of locally donated food, beverages and snacks, demonstrations by Zandriâs Martial Arts, and goodie bags. Everyone can participate in a warm-up before the walk and when they return musician Dave King will be playing songs from his recently released CD.
Registration will begin at 9 am and the walk will begin at 10 am.
The money raised in WalkAmerica events supports the research and programs to find out how to prevent premature births and local programs that give hope and help families who experience it.
