NFoM Board Of Directors Plan 2006-07 Season
NFoM Board Of Directors Plan 2006-07 Season
Members of the Board of Directors of Newtown Friends of Music (NFoM) met recently in the Mary Hawley Room of Edmond Town Hall to discuss plans for the organizationâs 29th season of presenting concerts.
The board has decided to present six, rather than five, concerts in the coming season 2006-07 and, additionally, engage artists once in the fall of 2006 and once in the spring of 2007 to work with Newtownâs school children in two workshop/school outreach programs.
The acoustics in the auditorium, the charming ambience of Edmond Town Hall, the presence of the venerable Knabe Concert Grand Piano and â most recently â the availability of a modern elevator that reaches all floors, all combine to persuade the members of Newtown Friends of Music to make use of the 500-seat auditorium, even though the rental of the space has been increased by the town hallâs board of managers.
At the same time, NFoMâs board of directors are convinced, says NFoM president Ellen Parrella, that low ticket prices make the concerts available to the greatest number of music lovers and they have therefore decided to keep subscriptions at the same price as last year. Concerts have been scheduled for September 17 (Amelia Piano Trio), October 22 (Parker String Quartet) and November 5, 2006 (pianist Soyeon Lee), and February 11 (cellist Sou Bae), March 11 (Walden Chamber Players) and April 29, 2007 (St Petersburg String Quartet).
A free brochure describing the upcoming concerts can be obtained at the town hall, Cyrenius H. Booth Library, Drug Center Pharmacy, and many other locations around town. The brochure may also be requested from Mrs Parrella by calling her at 426-6470.
A visit to NewtownFriendsOfMusic.org gives further information, including dates, pictures of the artists, a printable order form and archives of past seasons. Also on the website are photos of past school outreach programs.
