Financial Workshop For Cancer Patients
Financial Workshop For Cancer Patients
DANBURY ââ The Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital will host a financial workshop, Taking Charge of Money Matters, for cancer patients and their families on Monday, January 26, from 1 to 3 pm, in the Praxair Conference Room.
A cancer diagnosis can take a toll on personal finances. In response, the American Cancer Society and the National Endowment for Financial Education joined together to produce the workshop. The program will answer money-related questions such as: If I donât have medical insurance, how can I pay for the health care I need? What are the laws that protect patient rights while in treatment? How will I take care of other bills and save for my childâs future? Once I am cancer-free, how can I rebuild my finances? Who can assist my family and me?
The workshop will be held in the conference room on the first floor of the Stroock Building. Facilitators Lilla Dean, an emeritus professor from Western Connecticut State University, and attorney Arthur C. Weinshank of Cramer and Anderson, LLP, will lead a discussion to help those attending identify money concerns that affect them and to determine which to address first, take concrete steps toward solution by designing a money action plan, and identify community resources that may be of help.
To register, contact Joanne Ballerini, cancer care coordinator, at the Praxair Cancer Center, 797-7771.
