Help The Farmers' Market Thrive
Help The Farmersâ Market Thrive
To the Editor:
I donât usually write letters to the editor â especially to an out-of-town paper.
I have always admired how respectful Newtown citizens are of the historical buildings in your town. Your historic homes are restored and turned into beautiful homes and businesses. Historic Sandy Hook and Main Street are charming. Many citizens in Monroe try very hard to save houses in the Stepney section of Monroe, still many of our early homes have faced the wrecking ball, and today I received a letter about another early home slated to be burned after the demolition delay ends.
There is a lot to admire in Newtown but, I recognize an exception... our Friday Farmersâ Market on Monroeâs Town Hall Green is extremely well attended and thriving. I think Newtownâs Sandy Hook Organic Farmersâ Market could thrive, too, if the borough would allow the vendors to set up at Lexington Gardens instead of their old place, St Johnâs Church parking lot. It is a better and more visible place for the farmers and the area businesses will benefit as well.
