Sunday, June 6: Fifty fire calls occurred on June 6. Forty-two of those calls, which occurred between 3:17 pm and 10:36 pm, involved cases of “wires down” following a windstorm that hit the area. All five local volunteer fire companies responded to the “wires down” calls at various locations across town.

Other fire calls on June 6 were: 12:26 am, wires down, Mile Hill Road South, Hook & Ladder responded; 3:12 pm, motor vehicle accident, South Main Street near Laurel Road, Hook & Ladder responded; 3:20 pm, alarm, 7 Edmond Road, Hook & Ladder responded; 3:25 pm, report of a structure fire which actually was trees that had fallen onto houses at #2 and at #4 Oak Drive, Sandy Hook, Botsford, and Hawleyville responded; 4:24 pm, investigation, 8 North Ridge Drive, Hawleyville responded; 5:03 pm, investigation, near the intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Saw Mill Road, Hawleyville responded; 6:23 pm, investigation, 5 Sweetbriar Lane, Sandy Hook responded; 9:57 pm, motor vehicle accident, Lakeview Terrace, Sandy Hook responded.
