SOUTHBURY â The next Love & Knishes Lunch takes place at noon on Tuesday, November 16 at the Jewish Federation, 444 Main Street North. Entertainment for the day will feature an encore performance of âEclectic Music From Around the Worldâ featuring Lori Sunshine and Liz Rogers.
Both women have lived in Scotland over the years, and they sing and play harp, piano, guitar, mbira (thumb piano), and African drums. Their repertoire includes songs from Scotland, Ireland, Africa, and Israel, as well as jazz, golden oldies, Broadway and Jewish tunes.
On November 23, pianist King Bosworth and mezzo soprano Margaret Capen present âThe Many Moods of Love,â and the November 30 program features âSounds of the Greatsâ with Bob Lupi on keyboard and vocals and Dr J (Julio DâAquila) on sax.
Lunches are prepared by Jordan Caterers of Cheshire. Reservations should be made by the Friday before each lunch. All programs are open to the public, and there is a suggested lunch donation of $7.50 for adults age 60 and better.
In other news, Brownstein Jewish Family Service is offering a special one-time program to help people cope with grief over the holidays. Jenny Casey, MSW at Regional Hospice, will facilitate a program on âSurviving the Holidays Without Your Loved Oneâ on Wednesday, November 17, from 3:30 to 5 pm.
She will give suggestions to help family members cope with their feelings and understand how the holiday experience, though painful, can be successfully celebrated. She will also discuss self-care during this vulnerable time.
