Tailgate Tag Sale

Is In The Works

Newtown Woman’s Club is looking far beyond the snow and thinking spring.

Area residents and organizations are invited to join with The Newtown Woman’s Club GFWC, Inc, for “Clear The Clutter — A Tailgate Tag Sale.” The event will be held Saturday, April 30, from 8 am to 4 pm, in the side parking lot at Newtown Middle School.

The club will be allocating space for the event within the already lined parking spaces of the school’s parking lot. Participants will be responsible for bringing and setting up a table, behind their parked vehicle.

They will also be responsible for taking all unsold items back with them. All unsold items must leave with vendors at the end of the day.

Reservations are $25 for a “one car parking space,” which will accommodate cars up to the size of a small SUV. Larger SUVs, vans, and trucks will need to reserve “two parking spaces.”

To reserve a space, send a check for $25, along with a notation of the make of your vehicle and license plate number on the memo line, to Newtown Woman’s Club GFWC Inc, PO Box 101, Newtown CT 06470-0101, by March 26. Canceled checks will serve as be your confirmation. Spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Spaces that are still available on the day of the tag sale will be available for $35 each, cash only.

The tag sale will be a benefit on a few levels. Homeowners can start clearing clutter from closets, basements and attics now, while proceeds from the event’s registrations will benefit the philanthropic efforts of Newtown Woman’s Club. All proceeds from this event will allow the club to continue to support scholarships, police and fire, food pantries, and other service agencies that give assistance to residents.

For additional information before the registration deadline, contact Anna Wiedemann at 203-426-1035 or aroosterw@yahoo.com.
