U13 Blue Team Competes

Newtown’s U13 Blue boys’ lacrosse team competed in the CONNY Tournament this past weekend and fell short in battles with Cheshire and Guilford. Highlights are as follows:

Cheshire 5, Newtown 2: Ethan Hulk Hoffman and Mad Max Weber (assist by Matt Bucci) got on the board early, but Cheshire returned with a calculated vengeance despite Herculean efforts of goalie Jack The Wall Wellman and defense of Slammin’ Sam Cox, Sean Wallopin’ Wallace, Bad-Bad Cyril Brown, A’O-Cayden Dunn, Sean Wallace, and Noah LaFerriere. Middies Shawn McCarthy, Colin McCafferty, Mad Max Weber, Nate Sanchez, and Amazin’ Adam Weber played well, with Austin LaBeast LeBlanc, Kenny Barber and Rockin’ Riley Rising showing sick stick skills.

Guilford 6, Newtown 5 (OT): Newtown outplayed by fell to Guilford in the marathon three-quarter overtime battle. Eliot Gregory, Shawn McCarthy, David Anvil-Anderson, Max Weber, and Nick Lansing all found the cage. Austin LeBeast LeBlanc kept the team alive, with Riley Rising, Colin McCruisin’ McCafferty, Kenny Barber, Ethan Hoffman, and the Weber brothers Max and Adam all playing well. Sean Wallopin’ Wallace, Cayden Dunn, Noah LaFerriere, and Slammin’ Sam Cox protected Jack Wellman in goal. Electric Elliot Gregory, Nick Lansing, and Dave Anderson were relentless with shots on goal, and Cyril Brown worked the long stick middie position with ease. McCarthy, McCruisin’ McCafferty and Evan Axe-Man Eggleston showed amazing brains and brawn throughout the contest.
