Youth Wrestlers Compete In League Championships

The Newtown Youth Wrestling Association elementary squad competed in the Western Connecticut League Championships at the Danbury Police Athletic League (PAL) while the middle school team wrestled for their championship at Ridgefield High School this past week.

The competition was intense in this two-day league championship. On February 4, the elementary group grappled with teams from Stamford, Trumbull, New Milford, New Fairfield, Oxford, Westport, Ridgefield, and Danbury. The next day, the middle school group competed against the same teams with impressive results.

The wrestlers for both the elementary and middle school team who earned medals are as follows:

Elementary results: Taking first place were William Henckel, Zach Robinson, and Shaine Luzietti and second-place medals went to Luca Manfredi, Fisher Stites, Michael Carpenter, James Dauber, Luke Wellman, Adrain Decola, and Sean Dauber. Third-place medals were won by Robbie Accomado, Anthony Dorazio, Gren Paynter, and Jack Zingaro. Ben Watson, Jordan Conrad, Michael Jewell, Evan Rooney, and Matthew Jewell were awarded fourth-place medals.

Middle School results: Taking first place were, Anthony Falbo and Sean Arnold. Second-place medals went to Dylan Bartlett, Andy Hubina, and Andrei Steinjann. Chris Lajoie won third place, and Edward Lovely and Alex Stavola earned fourth.
