Curbside Baby Shower Planned At St Rose Church

Senior Girl Scouts Christina DeBartolomeo and Marina Renzi will be hosting a curbside baby shower for families in need of baby supplies in the Newtown area as part of their St Rose Silver Award project.

The two ninth graders will conduct the collection the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23, in the parking lot of St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road. The girls will receive items on Saturday from 3:30 until 7 pm, and Sunday from 7:30 am until 2 pm.

Items most needed are new and gently used baby and toddler clothing (infant up to size 4T), bibs, changing tables and mats, blankets, cribs, crib sheets, and strollers. Personal hygiene items such as baby-friendly shampoos, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, and baby bottles are also being requested.

Donations will support the Make A Home Foundation in Sandy Hook as well as other local social service organizations.

“We decided that we would like to help families with young children to have the supplies that they need for their babies without having to struggle with the cost of these items,” explained Marina, a student at Immaculate High School.
