Smoking Cessation Program

The Newtown Health District, with underwriting from a block grant, will be conducting a Smoking Cessation Program beginning in April. This program is free to the public — and is designed to target smokers in the Newtown community, according to Health District Director Donna Culbert.

“We will be holding an open house, Thursday, April 5, at noon, in the Council Chambers at the Newtown Municipal Center so folks who are interested in learning about the program can come and listen and have their questions answered.”

Ms Culbert said coming to the open house does not obligate anyone to participate in the program.

“If you are a smoker, you decide,” Ms Culbert said.

The program will be held on the six following Thursdays, for one hour, around the lunch time. The participants can decide what time works best for them.
