All About Orchids

SEYMOUR — Laurel Christian Women’s Club (formerly Housatonic and Danbury Clubs) will present a program called “All About Orchids” during its September luncheon.

The program will be at The Inn at Villa Bianca on Route 34 in Seymour, on Thursday, September 13. Coffee and conversation will be from 11 am to 11:30 am, and then the luncheon and program will begin at 11:30 sharp.

Guest speaker will be Cheri Kendall, a Newtown woman who fell in love with orchids more than ten years ago and who is now associated with the greater New York Orchid Society. Ms Kendall will share her knowledge of these unusual flowers, and how to have success growing them.

The second guest speaker, Marcy Alves, is a wonderful communicator and a recording artist with seven albums to her credit. She tells with humor and song her story of how material things, once so valued, have lost their appeal in her life.

The group’s next lunch will be on October 15, also at Inn at Villa Bianca. Karen Murphy, the owner of the Newtown floral shop Petal Pushers, will present a demonstration on creating a fall floral arrangement. Her finished work of art will then be offered as a door prize.
