Howard Loomis, Jr, 81, of Newtown, died August 17, in Danbury Hospital. Mr Loomis was the husband of the late Alice (Clayton) Loomis. He was born in Bridgeport, September 30, 1928, a son of Howard and Clara (OâBrien) Loomis.
Mr Loomis served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a lineman for SNET before his retirement. A resident of Newtown since 1965, Mr Loomis was member of VFW Post 308, and previously was a member of the Botsford Volunteer Fire Rescue Company.
Survivors include five children, Charles R. Loomis and Andrea Capozziello of Newtown; Howard C. Loomis and Arlene Casivant of Southbury, and Allison Remlin of Parish, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Three sons, Thomas H. Loomis, David P. Loomis, Gary P. Loomis, and a daughter, Alice Joyce Loomis, predeceased Mr Loomis.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 20, at 7 pm, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven, will be private. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 pm.
