Corigliano Quartet To Perform

At Keeler Tavern Garden House

RIDGEFIELD — The Corigliano Quartet will present a concert at Keeler Tavern Museum on Sunday, November 5, at 3 pm. The performance will be in the museum’s Cass Gilbert Garden House, at 132 Main Street.

This will be the second concert of the fall season in the Louise McKeon Chamber Series. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 seniors and students, $10 children age 12 and under, and will be available at the door.

Dedicated to the presentation of new American music in tandem with the standard quartet repertoire, the quartet was founded in 1996 with the blessing of the composer John Corigliano.

“I was, frankly, knocked out by their performance of my string quartet,” the composer has said. “It was music-making of the highest order, and I predict this world-class quartet will be known to more and more music lovers in the near future.”

The Corigliano Quartet is comprised of violinists Michael Jinsoo Lim and Lina Bahn, with the two alternating at first violin, violist Melia Watras, and cellist Jeffrey Zeigler.

The quartet captured the grand prize at the 1999 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, and also won the 1998 Chamber Music Yellow Strings Competition. In its brief history, the group has already performed in many of the world’s leading music centers.
