Candlewood Lake Lecture On June 10
DANBURY â The second of four lectures in a series to examine the history, ecology, economic importance and future of Candlewood Lake will take place at Western CT State Universityâs Student Center on Thursday, June 10, from 7 to 8 pm.
Candlewood Lake was created by The Connecticut Light & Power Company when it dammed the Rocky River in 1928. Dr Peter Silver, chairman of environmental studies at Connecticut College, will address âHow Much Water Quality Change Has Occurred in Candlewood and Other Lakes in New England, and How Do We Know?â
Dr Silver will focus on how scientists measure historical changes in water quality and what they have discovered about the water quality of Candlewood and other local lakes.
Each lecture â which can be enjoyed individually or as the full series â is free and open to the public. Remaining lectures are scheduled for June 17 (âAre We At Recreational Capacity Yet?â) and June 24 (a panel discussion, âWhat Kind of Candlewood Lake Do We Want for the Next 30-50 Years?â).
