State Police Issue More Than 2,400 Tickets During Holiday Weekend Â
State police report that during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, they issued a total of 2,447 tickets to motorists for various traffic offenses.
Of those overall 2,447 tickets, state police said they made a total of 1,164 arrests for speeding, 552 arrests for seat belt violations, and 55 arrests for driving under the influence.
State police responded to 483 motor vehicle accidents. Of that number, 63 accidents involved injuries. Of those 63 accidents with injuries, four accidents involved serious injuries, and 59 accidents involved minor injuries.
State police responded to two fatal traffic accidents during the period.
The Thanksgiving holiday weekend is one the most heavily traveled holiday periods during the year.
