Honda Vs Ford

Motorist George Lacroix, 56, of 175 Mt Pleasant Road, who was driving a 2005 Ford, was waiting in stopped traffic on southbound South Main Street at its intersection with Meadow Brook Road at about 4:13 pm January 3, police said.

Southbound motorist Sean Smith 20, of West Haven, who was driving a 2001 Honda, attempted to pass the Ford on the right, but collided with it, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Smith an infraction for passing on the right.

Church Hill/Queen

Police report a one-car accident at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Queen Street about 7 pm January 3.

Motorist Melissa Heil, 19, of 9 Oak Drive, who was driving a 1997 Plymouth Neon westward on Church Hill Road, was making a left turn onto Queen Street, but due to reduced visibility during rain, Heil misjudged the turn and drove onto a median on Queen Street, striking a street sign and a pole, police said. Heil was not injured. Police issued her a written warning for making an improper turn.

Turning Traffic

A two-vehicle accident occurred on Church Hill Road at the entrance to the Blue Colony Diner at about 4:30 pm January 3, police said.

 Involved in the crash were motorist Laurie Hoyt-Jones, 43, of Thomaston, who was driving a 1999 Hyundai Elantra, and motorist Janice Butler, 38, of Southbury, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Hoyt-Jones a summons on charges of driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without automotive insurance, and making a restricted turn.

Honda Vs Pole

Police report that motorist Astley Lee, 55, of Bridgeport was driving a 1993 Honda Civic southward on Route 302, near Hattertown Road, in rainy conditions about 9:30 pm January 3, when the Civic went out of control, went off the right road shoulder and struck a utility pole. Lee was not injured, police said. Police issued Lee a written warning for making a restricted turn.
