WATERBURY – The rescue of many animals affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita will be discussed on Friday, December 2, at 7:15 pm, as part of the Quiz the Experts series at Post University in Waterbury.

The talk is presented by the Equine Resources Committee at Post.

Dianne Montegue, a volunteer with Noah’s Wish since 2003, will give a presentation of this organization’s mission to rescue animals after any kind of disaster. The lives of countless animals depended on the many volunteer organizations that came to their rescue in the wake of the hurricanes and the work still continues in reuniting animals with their owners or finding them new homes.

Noah’s Wish is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and sheltering of all animals during disasters. Too often, efforts to help animals during such life threatening situations have been gravely inadequate.

Ms Montegue will talk about raising standards for managing animals during such disasters and implementing nationwide standards and procedures. Even while dealing with an immense undertaking such as the rescue efforts in the Gulf, Noah’s Wish is focused on directing all of its resources to end the needless suffering and death of animals when disaster strikes.

Students at Post University have been raising money to help this cause.

The talk will be held in the Drubner Center (Room 201). This building is on Route 63, exit 17 off I-84, and will be clearly signed. Tickets are available for the price of $6 in advance or $10 at the door. All proceeds will go to Noah’s Wish.
