Stephen D.      Wippermann

Former Newtown Municipal Attorney

Stephen D. Wippermann, 58, of Newtown, died on December 14 Danbury Hospital.

Mr Wippermann was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., June 11, 1947, son of Erwin H. and Geraldine (Frain) Wippermann and resided in Uniondale, N.Y., where he attended local schools and graduated from Chaminade High School of Mineola, N.Y. He then graduated from Boston College and the University of Connecticut School of Law.

A daughter, Kristen Wippermann of Newtown; a brother, Kenneth D. Wippermann and his wife, Annmarie, of Ridgefield; a sister, Mary Wippermann and her husband, Ford Fernandez, of Bayside, N.Y.; and two nieces, Kristina Wippermann and Joanna Wippermann, both of Ridgefield, survive him.

Mr Wippermann, an area resident for the past 30 years coming from Uniondale, maintained a former law practice in Newtown prior to the establishment of a land development business.

He was a former Newtown Municipal Town Attorney and member of the board of directors of the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, as well as a former member of the Rock Ridge and Waterbury Country Clubs.

Funeral services took place December 19 in the Trinity Episcopal Church, Newtown.

Interment will take place in Newtown Village Cemetery in the spring.
