DECORATIVE & FINE ARTS SOCIETY PLANS TEXAS MUSEUM FOR MAY

avv/gs set 2/25 #729933

WYCKOFF, N.J. — The Decorative & Fine Arts Society (DAFAS) has organized a spring “Culture and Cowboys” tour to the famous museums of Dallas, Houston and Fort Worth, Texas, May 13–18.

The itinerary includes visits to the Menil Collection designed by Renzo Piano with the Rothko Chapel and Bayou Bend, the country home of Ima Hogg in Houston; the Amon Carter and Kimbell Museums in Fort Worth and The Dallas Museum of Fine Arts. Colorful Texas traditions and special exhibitions will enhance this original tour.

For more than 30 years, DAFAS has presented a monthly series of lectures on the decorative and fine arts in Wyckoff. Day trips have included historic sites and museums throughout the tri-state area, as well as extended trips to Savannah, Ga., Charleston, S.C., and Washington, D.C.

DAFAS has organized trips to Britain’s historic houses and London museums as well as Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. In keeping with the widespread interest in the museum designs of the world’s most famous architects, a program of museum tours in the United States begins with the upcoming visit to the art-filled trio of Texas cities in May.

Space is limited, reservations must be made no later than March 10. For further information, contact Joan Socolof at 973-839-1324 or socolofj@att.net, or write to DAFAS, PO Box 22, Franklin Lakes NJ 07417.
