After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, a girl under age 16, who is a Newtown Middle School student, turned herself over to police on the morning of December 29 and was arrested on charge of second-degree harassment, police said.
Police allege that on November 2, the girl had threatened another middle school student via a Facebook website message that was posted on the Internet.
Police released the girl into the custody of her mother for a January 12 appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court.
Under state law, the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes are shielded from public disclosure.
