Auditions Being Scheduled For CT Master Chorale

The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich, is holding auditions for its upcoming spring season.

The Chorale is a premiere ensemble of 55 high-caliber vocalists with a precise blend and balance. Concert seasons consists of three performances: a Holiday Prelude Concert in November plus two Masterwork concerts in March and May. The Holiday concerts are accompanied by a brass and percussion ensemble and Spring concerts are accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra.

The Chorale is in its 11th season.

On March 14, 2010. the Chorale will reprise John Rutter’s Magnificat, which was the centerpiece of the group’s inaugural concert in 1999. The Chorale also sang it again in Carnegie Hall on Easter Sunday 2002 with Rutter himself conducting.

Also on the program will be “Great Hymns of Praise,” arranged by Mack Wilberg, music director and principal arranger of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

The Chorale’s May 2010 concert, “Around the World in 80 minutes,” will be a musical journey through 16 countries that begins and ends here in America.

Both concerts will be at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown, and accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra.

Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings in Southbury and begin in January.

Current members who live in Newtown are Judy Bolduc, Ginnie Carey, Lisa Cedergren, David Jurman, Karen Orzechowski, Nancy Raymond, Pastor Greg Wismar, and Dan Yee.

In addition to its regular three-concert season, the Connecticut Master Chorale has performed at the White House, Carnegie Hall three times, Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden and West Point Military Academy, all by invitation. They have also appeared on ABC TV and their recordings are frequently heard on WMNR Fine Arts Radio.
