The Horse Guard Is Not Frivolous

To the Editor:

Your editorial concerning the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard [Editorial Ink Drops, “The Horse Guard: Make It A Model, Not A Casualty,” 1/1/10] was a very fine piece. My daughter serves in the guard and does volunteer very, very many hours to its preservation. Thank you for your heartfelt concern. Some people feel that the guard is frivolous, but it is not readily known that if a terrorist attack occurs, this band of volunteers will be called up.
